Calling all Pumpkin Heads
Halloween is one of our fav holidays! And seems like we are not alone. Both young and old alike spend hours planning out what killer costume and what party to haunt…I mean show up to. 🙂 And while Halloween use to be mostly a North American festivity, our European friends are starting to get on board.
Let’s talk Halloween musts. Costume-check, candy-check, pumpkin- double check! Costumes competitions are intense, but not far behind is the emerging trend of pumpkin comps. Whether it’s an ugly, warted up pumpkin, finely carved to represent your favorite Hollywood star, or beautiful calligraphy, we are all upping our pumpkin game.
Here are our tips to finding the best pumpkin patch this weekend.
Saunder’s Farm, Ottawa, Ontario
Saunder’s has been around for over 20 years and each year they reinvent their scary mazes and the highlight, the scary tractor tour through different haunted villages. This spook-tacular place is little a mini Disney land where there are various scare features for every level of fright. But don’t leave without one of their pumpkins and an apple cider in hand!
Verger Labonté, Notre Dame de l’Île Perrot, Quebec
Not into the spook and want to outwit your friends, or maybe just ditch them for 20 min? Head over to Labonte Orchard and try their corn maze that takes about 20 min to walk through. Maybe a bit longer for others. The best part about this pumpkin patch is that they remain open even after October 31. Great news for all of us who aren’t as organized. But don’t forget to buy your ticket ahead of time before they are all gone!
Shamrock Farms, Comox, British Columbia
Each year there is some type of biggest pumpkin competition. But are those pumpkins being testing for steroids? Cheaters!!
No cheaters at Shamrock Farm. Just pure organic goodness. The farm was established in 1993 and works predominately as a vegetable and flower farm. They don’t use any pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides on our farm so you know you are eating just pure goodness and so is your baby pumpkin. Stop by and pick up your pumpkin baby and some lovely lavender for your bed. We know you will need a good night sleep after all that Halloween partying.
